My Birthday Celebration

My birthday was a eventful one. First, it started at Labrador Park after lunch at my parents' place. We bought Ben&Jerry's Ice-Cream and had a "walking picnic". We joked about a green mercedez and pretended that we were being followed. And when we left...we still saw the car at the carpark. We then drove off quickly in case it comes after us again, but we stopped over at this quaint looking food place along the main road going into Labrador Park. The funny thing was we saw it again when we left the food place! Just that this time, it was in front of us...

In the evening, my wife brought me to this place at Orchard Hotel called Esmirada. It was an interesting place and the service staff are a fun bunch of people. At about 9pm, the service staff will start to bring plates out for the diners to throw and break them on the floor. They will also do some juggling and then drop them to the ground. It was quite fun and i also got a complimentary Tiramisu cake with a sparkler as the candle. It was a tiring day, but every bit of energy used was worth it. It was a great day! Thank you wifey..

Holiday in Chiangmai

It was a much needed break. The weather was great and it was cool most of the time. Each night, we would be going to night markets and see if there are things that are worth buying. Most of the things we saw were relatively cheap coupled with the currency exchange rate. I bought 2 pairs of jeans for the price of maybe one pair in singapore. The material is good and the cut is interesting. I really like it. I also designed my own slippers and this is how it looks like:

We went for a day tour comprising of an elephant show and ride, ox-cart ride, river rafting and a lunch buffet. We also went shopping and had about 4 massages! (We stayed there only for 1 week)

The next time we are going for a holiday would be at least 1 year plus from now because baby girl will come into our arms in May. Even though i would miss going on holiday with my wife, it will be a different and wonderful experience for us as we learn how to care for the baby. One thing is for sure, the next holiday will be a good one! The caribbeans? NZ?

Annual Staff Dinner 2007

Even though i have only attended two staff dinners so far, i feel that the one in 2007 was the most enjoyable one. Maybe it's the entertainment group we hired to coordinate the programme, but i think the activities really broke the ice amongst us and we were all laughing most of the time. I hope none of us had indigestion after that. The bowling game before the dinner was great fun too. I was also very surprised that i could stay awake throughout the whole event although i came after my reservist training and i only slept a few hours the night before! Looking forward to the next dinner this year...
PS: This was the structure built by the SWC, one of the activities that night.

What would you do for quick cash?

Take part in game shows?

Which would you choose?

1. Amazing Race
2. Deal or no Deal
3. Fear Factor
4. Be a Millionaire
5. Survival

What else?

Was watching Fear Factor (Psycho) and it was crazy to see the participants catching african roaches that makes a hissing sound and eating camel spiders. And this was not the last part of the show. Can't imagine what else they would have to do.

Would you?

Web 2.0 and other programs

I attended a course during the sept break about using ICT tools. The class was exposed to many web 2.0 websites including using blogger specifically as a learning tool. After the course, i was so intrigued by the programs that i began to try them one by one. Not that i tried all that was introduced, but i think it is more than enough. Anyway, i would not have the time to do so anymore once school starts again.

The ones that i have "touched" were del.ciou.us, pageflakes, bloglines, vox and my yahoo! aggregator. And i decided that i will stick to my blogspot instead of starting another one on vox, even though vox offers nicer themes and backgrounds. But familiarity with blogspot is still much preferred. =) As for the use of aggregator to check updated websites and blogs of friends, it has been quite useful so far. I must say that this course has been beneficial and has triggered off some ideas to use ICT tools more in my work.

I started one webpage on pageflakes for a class and am hoping that it can be used. But thinking about it again, the school is already offering leadportal (as brought up by my dear wife, might as well use it since students already have their own account, no need to set up another one for them on pageflakes). I guess everything would be put on hold first until i have more time to get this sorted. Who knows... maybe have everything on blogspot?
